The conference aims to bring together academic scientists, researchers, research scholars and representatives of civil society from France, Poland and Germany to exchange and share their experience and research results in the sphere of climate, energy and transdisciplinary research. It provides a space for creating collaborative links between researchers and representatives of civil society from the three countries to strengthen the transdisciplinary approach in their research, brokers knowledge between institutionalized research and social movements and aims at long-term cooperation in the field of climate and energy in the form of the Green Weimar Triangle. The aim of this conference is as well to encourage the scientific community to work hand in hand with civil society on solutions to achieve the EU- climate neutrality goal on time and to drive their work towards more relevance of research to problems and needs of people.

Od semestru zimowego 2019/20 Niemiecki Instytut Historyczny w Warszawie (niem. DHI) współpracuje z Uniwersytetem Warszawskim. Pracownica naukowa NIH w Warszawie, Pani dr Annika Wienert, przygotowała razem z germanistką dr Ewą Wojno-Owczarską interdyscyplinarne seminarium dla studentów Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Na seminarium Stosunki polsko-niemieckie w literaturze, kulturze i historii zostali zaproszeni jako goście różni naukowcy prowadzący badania i pracujący w kontekście polsko-niemieckim. Część zajęć odbyła się w sali konferencyjnej Niemieckiego Instytutu Historycznego w Warszawie.

Project description
Crisis and world literature have gone hand in hand in a variety of ways since the concept was first formulated. The scattered remarks of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe that call world literature into being make it an orphan of generalized crisis: "all the nations that had been flung together by frightful wars and had then settled down again became aware of having imbibed much that was foreign, and conscious of spiritual needs hitherto unknown" (Introduction to the Life of Schiller). It is no coincidence that the next big published statement on world literature came in the crisis year of 1848, when Marx and Engels wrote in the Manifesto of the Communist Party that under the forces of global capital "The intellectual creations of individual nations become common property. National one-sidedness and narrow-mindedness become more and more impossible, and from the numerous national and local literatures, there arises a world literature." World literature, in other words, arises through the same processes of globalization that also amplify local problems to the level of global crises. From epidemics to sports scams and scandals, climate change to species extinction, financial crashes to terrorism, world literature reflects, intervenes in, and is shaped by these crises. This special issue will examine the intersection between global crisis and world literature, addressing issues such as scale, perspective, language, and whether world literature is itself a crisis mode of cultural production.
